For this first mix, I decided to use the clips from a single channel installation that I created in 2003.

These clips were created with public domain footage from “Design for Dreaming” a General Motors commercial from 1956 available on the internet archives.

Sound was specially designed for the clips. This is a homage to dancer Tad Tadlock who danced and choreographed many “infomercials” of the times.

We love the idea of music visualisation going further than the average music video on TV. Whether you’re using headphones or hearing aids, dance music is an extraordinary sensory experience, and by setting up a site that allows re-mixers and editors to collaborate, furthering the online musical experience.

However, by providing a terminus for this sort of activity, we’re not just serving ourselves – we’re serving dance music enthusiasts everywhere. Millions of people around the world use the internet to listen to tunes, but only a select few can or will remix tracks and compose new ones. Allowing those who are usually separated from the process to interact means people can learn from those who went before them – in time, we’ll have a whole new generation of dance mixmasters.
